Review: The Lion King
The Lion King (1994)
Directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff
One of the all time classic Disney films which has recently been re-released in 3D so i thought it was about time i watched the film for the first time in what feels like a decade. In fact the last time i sat down to watch the story was when i went to see the hugely successful stage show that has almost taken over the West End. The film like most Disney films is still standing the test of time even on a laptop screen with the drawings litually coming to life with the help of a fabulous voice cast including Darth Vader himself James Earl Jones and Rowan Atkinson (Blackadder, Johnny English). But at the heart of the Lion King is what is at the heart of most Disney films, its a story about growing up and is still an uplifting story 17 years on!! Of course the music is a main part of the films sucess with massive classics such as Circle of Life, I Just Can't Wait To Be King and Can You Feel The Life Tonight and they still manage to move and uplift the audience which is what should be expected from any family film.
9 out of 10
