Review: The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games (2012)
Director Gary Ross
Well its finally here. Yes after months of going on and on about one film its finally been released. Well it was always going to be slightly dissapointing but in this case its only very slightly. Like the book the film is fantastic and actually stays remakably well to the original, we may have the new Harry Potter here folks. Ok its not a fair comparrision but i'm not using the other one!! The direction given by Gary Ross (Pleasentville, Seabiscuit) is superbly offputting and from the start lets you know the film is not going to be your standard glossy blockbuster. The main aspect the film has going for it is the outstanding cast with Jennifer Lawrence (Winters Bone, X-Men First Class) shinning at it's heart. It's hard to pick out another stand out from the superb performances but i am edging towards Stanley Tucci (Lovely Bones, Easy A) as the best supporting role. Overall will leave fans of the book and hopefully ordinary cinema goes happy and wanting more (which their getting) and a great way to start what promises to be THE blockbuster summer.8 out of 10
